The AMFA-Southwest Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Membership at Southwest Airlines (“Southwest”). This is the Committee's only official source of negotiating communications. The Committee held a four-day collective bargaining session (Aug. 31-Sept. 3) with Southwest Airlines in Chicago. The parties continued off-the-record exploratory discussions to determine whether an extension to the current agreement was a viable path.

The Suffolk County PBA mourns the line-of-duty death of Warm Springs Police Sergeant Chris Fisher, who was shot and killed while sitting in his patrol vehicle after completing a traffic stop. The suspect fled the scene and was later located in South Carolina suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

1. Grievances — Just to remind every one of the steps in a grievance. Step 1 is answered by leadership. These get sent directly to the manager and are answered by them, usually. Sometimes they stay silent when they receive them. After (10) working days, it gets moved to Step 2 (or filed here for terminations). These have meetings, or hearings, scheduled in HR.

Labor Day Fishing Derby

The York/Adams County Central Labor Council held its annual Labor Day Fishing Derby at Kiwanis Lake. Twenty-six participants competed in two age groups (1-8 & 9-15) to win 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place trophies in each. Categories were for the biggest fish (25-1/2 inches) and most fish caught (4).  Two of the big fish that were caught. Those smiles are almost as big as the fish.
